Pembroke Port's New Workboat Pontoons
Designed to accommodate a diverse range of vessels, including workboats, barges, and other small crafts, these pontoons represent our commitment to enhancing marine operations in the Celtic Sea and beyond.
“Pembroke Port is perfectly positioned within the Port of Milford Haven to act as a hub for operations associated with marine activity taking place within the Port and the Celtic Sea.”
Pembroke Port, operated by the Port of Milford Haven, proudly introduces our state-of-the-art workboat pontoons, a pivotal addition to our infrastructure under the Pembroke Dock Marine project.
First vessel arrival
On May 9, 2024, we celebrated the arrival of the CRC Sentinel, a dive support vessel owned by Commercial Rib Charter, as the first vessel to utilise our newly installed pontoons. This milestone marks the beginning of a new era for Pembroke Port as a central hub for marine activities.
Features and benefits
Our new workboat pontoons offer a range of features tailored to meet the needs of various marine operations:
- Secure Access: Ensuring the safety and security of vessels and crew.
- Utility Hook-ups: Equipped with electricity and water connections for convenience.
- Flexible Berthing: Available for both short and long-term berthing, providing flexibility for diverse operational requirements.
Enhancing infrastructure
The workboat pontoons complement other significant infrastructure upgrades at Pembroke Port, including new laydown spaces and an expanded slipway. These enhancements are part of our broader mission to create a world-class energy and engineering centre, attracting and supporting renewable energy projects in wind, wave, and tidal sectors.
Pembroke Dock Marine project
The Pembroke Dock Marine project, part of the Swansea Bay City Deal, aims to establish a centre of excellence for marine energy. Funded by the UK Government, the Welsh Government, the European Regional Development Fund, and private sector partners, this initiative underscores our commitment to fostering economic growth and innovation in the region.
