Offshore firing from Castlemartin Range, mariners approaching and leaving the Port to navigate with caution and keep clear during firing hours
- MARINERS ARE HEREBY ADVISED offshore firing will be taking place from Castlemartin Artillery and Bombing Ranges between 18th and 24th November up to a distance of six miles offshore in both a westerly and southerly direction (see chartlet attached).
- Firing times are expected to be between 0900hrs and 2330hrs daily.
- The limits of the firing area is as follows :
- Little Furznip Head westwards to
- Waypoint - 51°37’.267” N 005°11.222” W then southeasterly to
- Waypoint - 51°33’461” N 005°08’.790” W then south southeasterly to
- Waypoint - 51°31’363” N 005°00’.021” W then northeast to
- Saint Govan’s Head
- Mariners are required to navigate with caution in these areas whilst the range is active and keep good listening watch on VHF Ch12 and 16 for possible instructions from the Castlemartin Range Officer or the Range Safety Boats that will be on station during live firing periods. When possible, keeping well to the west of the Turbot Bank when approaching or clearing the East Channel and if bound to or from the Bristol Channel Ports to plan a course keeping well south of St Govan’s South Cardinal Buoy.
