Over three hundred young people have enjoyed spinning the decks, getting creative with photography and perfecting their skating skills at Under the Bridge this summer.

The Friday night project ran for six weeks during the school holidays, co-ordinated by Milford Youth Matters and funded by the Port of Milford Haven and the Dyfed Powys Police and Crime Commissioner’s Community Fund. This year saw record-breaking attendance with a total of 368 people turning out to have a go at the wide range of free activities on offer.

Dayle Gibby, Milford Youth Matters Co-ordinator, is thrilled with how it went commenting: “Under the Bridge 2019 has been an amazing success. It enabled young people to take part in activities that are typically only offered in more urban areas and often cost a lot of money to attend. The project operated in an area in which people regularly congregate, so it was a familiar place for them and by utilising partner agencies, businesses and local charities we were able to offer new and unique opportunities. Thank you to all who supported the project and the young people who attended each nightly session creating a positive atmosphere within Milford Haven”.

Stakeholder Engagement and Communications Manager at the Port, Anna Malloy, said “This is the fourth time the project has taken place at Milford Waterfront and each year it’s grown in popularity. It’s opened up new opportunities for young people by providing them with activities that they may not have tried before such as learning how to be a DJ and editing photos. As always RAMPS skatepark proved extremely popular, plus we had some new attractions such as a giant inflatable ‘Total Wipeout’ game and a rodeo bull. We hope everyone who came along enjoyed themselves. We certainly did!”

Dan y Bont – hwyl yr haf yng nglannau Aberdaugleddau

Mae dros dri chant o bobl ifanc wedi mwynhau troelli’r disgiau, bod yn greadigol gyda’r camera a hogi eu sgiliau sglefrio yn nigwyddiad Dan y Bont yr haf hwn.

Cynhaliwyd y prosiect bob nos Wener am chwe wythnos dros wyliau’r haf, wedi’i gydlynu gan griw Milford Youth Matters a’i ariannu gan Borthladd Aberdaugleddau, Heddlu Dyfed Powys a Chronfa Gymunedol y Comisiynydd Heddlu a Throseddu. Daeth mwy nag erioed atom eleni, gyda chyfanswm o 368 yn dod i roi cynnig ar yr amrywiaeth eang o weithgareddau am ddim.

Roedd Dayle Gibby, cydlynydd Milford Youth Matters, wrth ei fodd: “Roedd Dan y Bont 2019 yn llwyddiant rhyfeddol - yn cynnig cyfle i bobl ifanc gymryd rhan mewn gweithgareddau sydd ond yn cael eu cynnig mewn ardaloedd mwy trefol fel arfer ac yn rhy ddrud i’w mynychu. Cynhaliwyd y prosiect mewn ardal lle mae pobl yn dueddol o ddod at ei gilydd, felly roedd yn lle cyfarwydd iddyn nhw, a thrwy ddefnyddio asiantaethau partner, busnesau ac elusennau lleol, roedden ni’n gallu cynnig cyfleoedd newydd ac unigryw. Diolch i bawb am gefnogi’r prosiect ac i’r bobl ifanc am ddod i’r sesiynau min nos a chreu awyrgylch mor gadarnhaol yn Aberdaugleddau.”

Yn ôl Anna Malloy, Rheolwr Cyfathrebu ac Ymgysylltu â Rhanddeiliaid y porthladd, “Dyma’r bedwaredd flwyddyn i’r prosiect gael ei gynnal ar Lannau Aberdaugleddau, ac mae’n mynd o nerth i nerth. Mae wedi agor cyfleoedd newydd i bobl ifanc trwy ddarparu gweithgareddau newydd fel dysgu sut i fod yn DJ a golygu ffotograffau. Roedd parc sglefrio RAMPS yn hynod boblogaidd fel arfer, yn ogystal ag atyniadau newydd fel gêm castell gwynt anferth ‘Total Wipeout’, a tharw rodeo. Gobeithio i bawb fwynhau cymaint â ni!”
