Members of the public have an opportunity to hear about the Port of Milford Haven’s current and future projects at its Annual Consultative Meeting later this week.
Chief Executive Alec Don and outgoing Chairman Peter Jones will update attendees on the Port’s performance over the last twelve months and provide an update on recent investments, as well as the exciting regeneration plans at Milford Waterfront and Pembroke Port.
Alec Don, Chief Executive, commented “The Annual Consultative Meeting is a highlight in our calendar and we’d like to encourage everyone to come along and hear about the progress we’ve made since last year. It’s been a busy twelve months – we have invested in a fleet of new pilot boats, a state-of-the-art navigation simulation suite and the landmark Swansea Bay City Region Deal was signed which includes our Pembroke Dock Marine project.
“In addition to major ongoing projects, the Port hosts a series of public events which many of our stakeholders will have enjoyed over the past year. Last weekend all eyes were on Milford Waterfront for the P1 Welsh Grand Prix of the Sea where the Milford Waterfront team won the weekend’s top podium position and reigning champions, Pembrokeshire based Coleman Racing, claimed the top spot in the overall UK Championship.”
The Annual Consultative Meeting will take place on Friday 21st July on Mackerel Quay at Milford Waterfront. Doors open at 2pm for a 2.30pm start and light refreshments will be available. Anyone interested in attending and submitting questions can contact prdepartment@mhpa.co.uk or call 01646 696158.

Port of Milford Haven
The Port of Milford Haven is the UK’s top energy port and Wales’ busiest port handling around 20% of Britain’s seaborne trade in oil and gas. It is widely recognised in the industry as the energy capital of the UK.
The Port, along with the cluster of energy-related businesses along the Waterway, is a key driver of economic activity in Pembrokeshire, attracting inward investment and supporting over 4,000 jobs.
The Port of Milford Haven also owns and operates Pembroke Port and Milford Dock. Activities such as cargo handling, ferry operations, fish landing and cruise calls as well as a first class marina are spread across these two sites.
One of the most prominent on the West Coast, the Port is in the heart of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, the only Coastal National Park in Great Britain. It is marked as a Special Area of Conservation (SAC) and has many areas designated as Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).
The Port of Milford Haven is a trust port – an independent, commercially run organisation that has statutory responsibilities governed by its Acts, to maintain and improve navigation and the provision of Port and Harbour services and facilities. Additionally, the Port provides significant financial and in-kind support to a wide variety of local causes. All profits are retained within the business to fund these objectives.
