The Port of Milford Haven’s team of ‘Muddy Rudders’ have proudly handed over a cheque for over three thousand pounds to the Paul Sartori Foundation.
Earlier this year, the 15-strong team from the Port of Milford Haven took part in Tough Mudder – a 12 mile mud run with 20 military-style obstacles. The gruelling course, which required huge amounts of upper body strength and strong determination, featured obstacles which involved plunging into 40 tons of ice, getting electrocuted, climbing 9 foot walls and a 2-mile walk through 500,000 litres of mud.
PR and Communications Manager Anna Malloy, who was one of those who took part, said “I know I can speak for the rest of the team when I say that Tough Mudder was one of the most challenging things any of us have ever done, but hearing from Judith about how the funds will make a difference to their patients made it all worthwhile. It’s not over yet though! Various members of staff are continuing to fundraise for Paul Sartori, which is the charity they chose to support at the beginning of the year. Daniel Devine, for example, who works at Milford Marina, has just completed Ironman Wales and raised a further £625. We’re all really committed to raising as much as possible for our chosen charity, both in and outside of work”.
Judith Williams, Funding and Projects Coordinator at the Paul Sartori Foundation, added “The team that participated in this challenge should be proud! What an achievement to have completed such a course, but also to have raised considerable funds for Paul Sartori! We want to personally thank the Port of Milford Haven Muddy Rudder team and to highlight that the monies raised will directly benefit people living with a life limiting illness, their carers and families within Pembrokeshire, enabling them to be cared for at home with dignity, independence, pain free and surrounded by those they hold most dear.”
The Paul Sartori Foundation was selected by Port of Milford Haven staff as their Charitable Cause of the Year for 2017. Since January, employees from all areas within the business have taken part in a variety of activities to help raise money for the charity. To date £4,391 has been raised by staff, in addition to the £5,000 cash donation from the organisation.
