A packed calendar of events has been arranged at Milford Waterfront to keep boredom at bay during the school holidays.
The Port of Milford Haven and the Torch Theatre have collaborated again this year to run the hugely popular Sunset Cinemas. Audiences have already enjoyed ‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’ and ‘Dirty Dancing’ and now have ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’, ‘Paddington’ and ‘Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again!’ to look forward to next month. On Sunday 5th August, prizes will be awarded for the best mermaids and pirates fancy dress costumes when ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ is screened. Gates open at 7pm and the films will begin at approximately 9pm or when the light allows.
The best of Pembrokeshire’s raw musical and comedy talent will be showcased at Milford Waterfront over the next few weeks during Open Mic Nights. Martha’s Vineyard and The Lounge are hosting sessions where customers will be able to dine with exclusive entertainment.
Keeping the children entertained for six weeks is always a challenge, but a programme of family fun days will give parents lots of activities to choose from. Between Monday 30th July and Wednesday 29th August, there will be a programme of circus workshops, ‘unicorn’ rides, face painting, magic shows and a rock pool experience by Silent World.
Foodies are in for a treat on 18th and 19th August when The British Street Food Awards come to town. The festival will see Welsh vendors showcasing their culinary talents in order to win votes and be crowned champions. Celebrity chef Stephen Terry will be judging the entries whilst taking into account the publics’ votes.
Summer wouldn’t be complete at Milford Waterfront without getting onto the water and the recently launched Discover Coast & Cleddau boat trips are the ideal way to explore the Haven. Trips are running at regular intervals throughout the week and on weekends.
Karen Lewis, Tourism Manager at the Port of Milford Haven, is responsible for the programme of activities and is looking forward to a busy season. She said “We have a wide variety of attractions for people of all ages. Whether your child is interested in exploring rock pools or you’re a little older with a taste for street food and cocktails there’s something for everyone at Milford Waterfront during July and August. Our popular grassed area will be laid out next to The Scoop Ice Cream Parlour providing a picnic and garden games space, so I’m looking forward to seeing lots of people taking advantage of the fantastic views it offers over the Waterway.”
