We take enormous pride in our role within the community and in supporting great local initiatives.
As a Trust Port, we re-invest any profits back into the business. This ensures we can maintain our principal operations and deliver projects that will create jobs, support economic growth and deliver a bright outlook for the region.
Our commitment to the region is not just about our economic impact. We also support the community's prosperity through a wide range of direct initiatives.
Our Education and Community Activities
We work with community groups and schools to deliver ground-breaking, engaging projects that help communicate key messages.
In 2022, the community of Pembroke Dock came together to create a music video celebrating the £60 million Pembroke Dock Marine project. The project partners (the Port of Milford Haven, Marine Energy Wales, ORE Catapult and Celtic Sea Power) worked with the Aloud Charity to deliver song writing workshops at Ysgol Harri Tudur where pupils composed and performed their own lyrics. Members of the community also got involved and starred in the music video alongside the pupils. The chorus was written by Alex Stacey who is a member of singer/songwriter Amy Wadge’s team. Amy has worked with Ed Sheeran, James Blunt and Ella Henderson and most recently co-wrote the song ‘Space Man’ which came second in the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest!
Delivered by Milford Youth Matters and the Port of Milford Haven, Under the Bridge has been one of the highlights of our community events and has even won an Arts & Business Cymru Award in recognition of its contribution to reducing anti-social behaviour, promoting a sense of pride in the area and providing opportunities for young people to try new activities. DJ workshops, break dancing, street art activities and a skate park are some of the fantastic activities on offer to teenagers at Milford Waterfront on Friday evenings during the summer. The project has previously been delivered thanks to funding from Arts & Business Wales.
During National Drowning Prevention Week in June 2022, over 300 Year 7 pupils from Milford Haven School, Ysgol Harri Tudur and Ysgol Caer Elen participated in WAVE workshops at Milford Marina. Delivered by the Port of Milford Haven, Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service, Dyfed Powys Police, RNLI and Pembrokeshire Youth, the pupils learnt about the dangers of tombstoning, cold water shock, peer pressure, submerged objects, tides and anti-social behaviour.
In 2017 we worked with Theatr na nÓg to deliver their award-winning Would you Jump? show to highlight the dangers of tombstoning. Many don't realise the dangers. Cold water shock, strong currents and submerged objects can injure and kill. While the Port can and will prosecute anyone caught tombstoning, our aim was to reach out and increase awareness of just how dangerous tombstoning is. In 2018, in conjunction with Cardiff Harbour Authority and with funding from Arts & Business Cymru, we went one step further by incorporating a scriptwriting workshops for Year 7 and 8 pupils. Pupils worked with Sara Lewis, freelance writer and director, to create their own storylines that could be used as a Would You Jump? sequel producing fantastic results that were performed by the pupils and the professional actors.
We are focused on building a prosperous, resilient and inclusive community inside and outside our organisation.

Anti-tombstoning campaigns
Tombstoning is an extremely dangerous activity that can result in serious injuries, or in the worst case, fatalities. It is not permitted at Milford Waterfront or the Marina and Docks. Signs are located around the waterfront to raise awareness of the hazards in an area busy with commercial and leisure traffic.
We worked with Milford Haven School, Arts & Business Cymru, Cardiff Harbour Authority and Theatr na nÓg to deliver and anti-tombstoning play that also helped pupils learn about script writing.
